For two and a half years we have been working to develop a system to provide immediate feedback to learners using digital images. Steve Kibble (PE Adviser) and Steve Cayley (elearning Adviser) from Devon Curriculum Services have been working with Dartfish, a Swiss based multimedia software company, to develop a software solution which will enable immediate feedback to learners and a wide range of movement analysis.

The developments are being followed with interest by the physical education community and have featured on local and national television. A pilot project has been established to assess the impact on teaching and learning.

The Devon Video Based Physical Education Project has been set up with the help of Dartfish to develop teaching and learning strategies and classroom based protocol, which maximise the benefits of immediate feedback to the learner. The project will include 8 Devon schools in the first year with the hope that all Devon secondary schools will benefit from the findings of the project group and be involved within 3 years.
