Digital video and literacy

Participants at the May 05 training day were invited to use digital video to produce a short film that explored the idea of a simple set of instructions.

In 2005, the Digital Media and Literacy teams worked with teachers from seven Devon primary schools, Bassetts Farm, Black Torrington, Clawton, Horwood and Newton Tracey, Pyworthy, Stokenham and Woolsery, exploring the use of digital video to support the teaching of Literacy at Key Stages 1 and 2.

They devised a range of teaching sequences which involved the use of digital video. One example is Alison Campbell’s work at Woolsery Primary School, looking at the use of DV to support the instruction writing process:

The literacy team have also been working with consultant colleagues and a group of lead primary teachers in Devon on embedding ICT in the classroom. Their findings are included in the article “ Embedding ICT and the use of Third Space Theory” .
