Videoconferencing

My first videoconference

These sessions are designed for teachers and their classes who are new to videoconferencing, to give them an opportunity to experience a live videoconference.

Book a session with one of our presenters and customise it to suit your requirements. You might decide, for instance, for the children to do a short presentation about your school and then answer questions about it. You might then ask our presenter to do a short presentation followed by an opportunity for the children to ask questions.

You can also use the session as an opportunity to try out the equipment. For instance:

  • Use the pre-set facility to set up camera shots to use in the conference
  • Attach a digital camera to the system to show pictures to the far end
  • Use a camcorder on a tripod as a document camera to show artefacts to the far end.

It’s also an opportunity to check that our presenter can see and hear all of the children. Is the microphone in the best place? Is the lighting right? What about the seating positions?
